Each year Vistage Florida offers an event we call The CEO Summit. This event is really an opportunity for area CEOs to gather and hear a knowledgeable speaker concerning a business message of universal interest to those of us who run businesses. This year the meeting is March 31st so there is still plenty of time to register. The meeting is always scheduled as a breakfast so it doesn’t take a big chunk out of your day. We begin at 7:30 am with coffee and everyone is ready to leave around 10:00 am. This year the meeting will be at the Via Mizner Golf and Country Club in Boca Raton. My real reason for writing is the speaker. This year Doug Tatum brings his message on No Man’s Land. This is where he says you are when you are too big to be small and too small to be big! For many this is after you reach a new revenue landmark where you can no longer meet the cash flow needs of your business from your own bank account. For others it may mean that the new level outruns your management capacity. It can also mean that your infrastructure is no longer able to handle the volume. Maybe it’s software, maybe it’s procedure and maybe it’s people. In any case it is a problem that is hard to solve and often threatens growing businesses.
